The normal requests are fun and I take those too, but the ones I remember are the ones where somebody had no idea whether it was even possible.
The one people ask about
A spine, for a chiropractor.
They wanted something for the office and asked whether I could crochet a spine. I had never made anything like it, so I worked out the shape one vertebra at a time until it hung right. It is the piece I am proudest of so far, and it is the reason I say yes to strange requests now.
How it works
Four steps, no surprises.
Send me the idea
A picture, a sketch, or a description. Tell me the colors you want and roughly how big you are imagining it, and say if it needs to be finished by a certain day.
I say yes, or I say not yet
If I know how to make it, you get a price and a date within a couple of days. If it needs a technique I have not learned, I will tell you that straight instead of guessing.
Half now, half when it is done
The first half covers the yarn so I can start. You pay the rest only after you have seen pictures of the finished piece.
Pictures before it ships
You see it from every side while there is still time to ask me to change something. Then it goes in the mail.
